North Beach County Park to McCurdy Point by hikingwithlittledogs

We saw a dozen little porpoises right off the Hood Canal Bridge and knew it was going to be a great day. Got lucky finding a parking spot. It’s pretty popular on a sunny day. We timed it just right and started our beach hike about one hour before low tide. This beach is great for rockhounds and treasure hunters. Treasures in the form of sea glass and other interesting things that wash up on shore. We enjoyed an eagle show with 6 bald eagles chirping and chasing each other high above the bluff. We sat on a log for lunch and after sitting there for about 20 minutes, an otter came out from a pile of downed trees behind us and made a bee line for the water. We watched it go catch a fish in no time at all.
The sandy was nice and firm, making an easy 5or 6 miles round trip.
There are a couple of honeybuckets in the park but we didn’t use them. We chose to drive over to Fort Warden State Park where they have nice restrooms.

Thanks! Do you ever take your camper to Fort Warden? Looks like a great spot for winter camping.
