The Anacortes Community Forest offers a great network of hiking trails. My daughter and I took a nice loop hike up and over Sugar Cube Hill, then down along Whistle Lake to return to the car. The only person we saw was a lone fisherman on the opposite side of Whistle Lake. This is a beautiful area with old growth and second growth forest. There are no views from the Sugar Cube summit other than the top of Mount Erie on the descent. The trails were in great shape with no mud and the weather was pleasant with only a few sprinkles of rain at the end.
3.09 miles, 450 ft. gain.
Route: Trail 201, Road 21, Road 27, Trail 202, Trail 204, Road 20.
