Trip Report

Chambers Creek Canyon — Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Chambers Creek

Starting from the west end at Chambers Creek Rd, we hiked in 1½ miles to the site of the future connector bridge (and a little bit further upstream).

Road Conditions. Paved road, roadside parking, no facilities.

Trail Conditions. Nice, well-maintained trail with some ups and downs. One or two blowdowns to step over/through.

Highlights. Nicer forest than expected, few invasive species, and some decent-sized trees. Spotted a belted kingfisher along the creek.

Crowds. There were about half a dozen cars parked on the wide pullouts along both sides of the road at 11am, with space for at least as many again.

Post-Hike. Didn't find a good-enough lunch spot along the trail, so we drove a few minutes south to Sunnyside Beach, which had the views we were looking for ($10 parking fee).
