We visited the Yurt for our one-night reservation this past Saturday. Rain gear including rain pants, rain jackets, and backpack covers was definitely essential, as it was steadily raining for the entire hike. With the rain and warmer temps, there was very little snow to contend with. Snowshoes were entirely unnecessary (we didn't carry them at all), and we also never needed our microspikes.
About a mile up the road there's a lower Yurt trail option, which we decided to use in both directions. At the start of this side trail there's a sign warning of 100 yards of steep uphill -- which you come upon fairly quickly and it certainly doesn't lie -- but after that we appreciated the much more gradual approach for the majority of the rest of the way. In addition, the trees provided a bit more rain cover than the road, and it was nice to get off the gravel and walk on some dirt.
