First we discovered that this hike is now listed on latest Greentrails "Bandera" map, which I was glad to see after reading all the warnings about this hike. It is very, very steep, most of the bark on the trees along the trail is worn down from folks grabbing on to the them for support. The sound of I90 is present much of the time, especially at the top along with quite a number of biting flies. The top was pretty cool with two mailboxes, one American and one Brittish, and a new blank book would be welcome if someone wishes to carry one up. The thimbleberries were ripe at the base of the trail, and several varieties of blueberries were ripe near the top, along with many wildflowers. The trail is not in good condition overall (as the warning at the trailhead states) and would not be great hike for inexperienced or unprepared hikers, but for those wanting a challenge and have a lot of experience hiking steep trails, it was pretty fun for our family including kids ares 10 & 13.
