Two of us started the hike at 10:00am. This being my first time on this hike was amazed at how well maintained the trail was, and the beauty of the old growth forest. Aside from the feeder streams which cross the trail in many locations, the conditions were bare and dry until we hit 2,4000 foot elevation. From this point forward we were hiking on snow. Thanks to fresh snow, this was easily navigated in light hiking boots and trekking poles.
After reaching the lake we navigated around the west side of the lake where we spent roughly an hour eating lunch, soaking in the sun and listening to the thunderous sounds of ice popping high up on Mt. Pilchuck.
This hike is now on my list of "Must Do" annual hikes and I am looking forward to making the hike again later this summer with the kids.
This hike is a must for anyone interested in seeing nature in its raw, untouched beauty.
