Trip Report

Dirty Face Lookout and Peak — Monday, Jun. 21, 2010

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East
Three of us set off for the peak at around 1130 AM. The trail is in great shape. There is only one down tree on the way up. It is easy to get over/around. This one must have come down after the rangers cleared the others, as nothing blocks the way and there is evidence of recent cutting. There are some very minor snow "patches" near the summit - they will be gone in a few days. The bugs weren't bad. The temperature at the top (due to windchill) was fracking freezing. I am very glad we packed all the necessities including hats and gloves. It made staying up there for 1/2 hr tolerable. This is a great hike at this time of year, especially if the temperature are moderate. There is water near the bottom but nothing higher up - make sure you bring plenty.
