We had a nice 8 mile hike over Little Hump, along the river, and then to the top of Big Hump where we stopped to rest and eat on the topmost rock/grass outcrop overlooking the valley. The rain was kind enough to hold off until late afternoon on our drive home. In fact, we had intermittent sun and bright skies despite plenty of clouds so we were happy we had chosen to travel west for our hike. The trail is in good shape with a few muddy patches and some stream crossings that were easy to negotiate. Nice flower show of trillium, avalanche lily, pink wintergreen, yellow violets, and even a few paintbrush about halfway up Big Hump. Of course, the beautiful moss-covered trees and river were marvelous, as well.
