Wow! What a beautiful day it was. Got a little confused getting to the trailhead with the mountaineers day hiking guide saying to ignore the sign for the trailhead... but the sign had been changed by someone. It says, one mile to the trailhead. When we got there, there were quite a few cars already parked in the miniscule parking there was (the gravel pile is still there after one year!). (When we returned from the hike, there were a load more cars...) Anyway... the trail was in fabulously great shape, which we expect for the Olympics... rhodies at the start and great wildflowers further up. Given all the cars at the TH, there were quite a few people there (~100). The view from the ridge of the neighboring peaks was great! People were saying "I have never had seen such a view..." Though the Strait and the Sound were in the fog, we were elated!! Watch out for the rampaging chipmunks(?) on the summit! They will eat your lunch if you're not careful!! All in all, we were quite satified with our hike. So glad the assignment to DC fell through!!!!
