Trip Report
Hidden Lake, Hidden Lake Lookout — Friday, Aug. 19, 2011

Beautifl clear day, cool temperatures. The wildflowers were out in full force, but there were also a few mosquitoes especially if you stopped for more than 30 seconds. Whereever you could find a breeze was fine, too, so I had lunch by the edge of Hidden Lake and had no problems with the bugs. Still some snow on the trail before the Hidden Lake turnoff, but not enough to worry about. I continued on to Upper Palisades Lake, making the whole trip about 8 1/2 miles. If you have the time, try to do both lakes and as soon as you can, while the wildflowers are out. The flowers along the road to Sunrise Point are also spectacular. And thanks to the WTA volunteers rebuilding the upper part of the trail as it leaves the parking lot!
