Bay View State Park, Padilla Bay — Saturday, Apr. 7, 2012

Puget Sound and Islands > Whidbey Island
Panoramic View of Padilla Bay from Bay View State Park

After leaving Skagit Wildlife Recreation Area I headed over to Bay View State Park which is the last state park in the Northwest Region of Washington that I had not been to.n My hike number 16. It is located on Bay View Edison Road just north of Highway 20 outside of Burlington and Antacortes. Bay View State Park is a small 25 acre park with tent, RV camping as well and maybe some cabin rentals as I can see several there which are all located on the opposite side of the road from the beach. There is a paved trail and road that goes under the main road so you don't have to cross it with the kids. The are lots of birds to see both when the tide is up and down. I got there when the tide was way out. You should combine a visit here with the Padilla Bay Dike Trail and Estuary Reserve which is about 4 mile hike flat roundtrip and just 1/4 mile south of the camping on Bay View Road. There are places to park at each end of this hike. They also have a vistors center 1/4 north of the park. Yes that is correct the hike is 1/4 mile south and the visitors center is 1/4 mile north. Checkout the small video of the views from this park as well as over 160 other trail hikess and parks I have seen in Washington State on my youttube channel at lmm3181 or click on this direct link for this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoRHBF0__nk As always get out and see this beautiful state!
