This little used trail makes for a pleasant stroll along the Sauk river to a small lake, no elevation gain to speak of so it's great for all age levels. Catch some nice views of the Sauk as you stroll along an old railroad grade, and if you keep your eyes open you can spot where some of the old rails have been uncovered along the eroding bank. The lake makes for a fine destination, as the trail is washed out about a quarter of a mile beyond.
If you come from Barlow Pass, allow a bit of extra time as the road between there and the Whitechuck river has quite a few potholes.
