Minotaur Lake, Labyrinth Mountain — Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East
This is a steep but short hike in the Stevens pass area accessed from Smithbrook Road. The lower portions of trail gain elevation quickly up through forest. After about 45 minutes we broke out of forest onto the lower meadows. A few more minutes brought us to the sky blue Minotaur Lake, ringed by remnants of snow fields. We crossed the outlet and followed the well established boot path up through sloping meadows and finally the last few hundred feet of scramble route to the summit. Beautiful views in all directs including Glacier peak to the north. Overall, the trail and scramble route are in good condition.
