Trip Report

Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park Backcountry — Sunday, Apr. 14, 2013

Central Washington > Yakima
After a long week of rain and cold temperatures, we were ready, if not dying, for some sunshine and warm weather. We decided to try this hike out, and were not dissappointed. We did get a couple of minutes of rain, followed by a couple of minutes of hail. Then the wind pick up for a little bit. But then, the clouds started openning up, and the sun was glorious. The views were amazing, beautiful wildflowers everywhere. You could hear birds chirping and see them soaring over the Columbia River. Though there were cars parked on the road, we had the whole place to ourselves. I did find a pair of prescription glasses on the trail. If you lost yours, let me know, so I can give them to you. Happy Hikes!
