Mailbox Peak - Old Trail — Friday, Apr. 26, 2013

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
The Mailbox
The weather was still nice on Friday so I headed up to Mailbox after work. The is a large new paved parking lot, but it's still gated so you still park on the middle fork road. The trail is in decent condition. It's snow free until you get to where the trees start thinning out. From there it's mostly snow patches until you get out of the trees. At the boulder field above the trees you have a choice, either rocks or snow slope. The final section is almost entirely snow free. There is a patch of snow the mailbox itself. No traction devices are really necessary. I didn't even bother to pull my microspikes out of the pack for the short section of snow. In a couple of weeks the trail should be virtually snow free.
