Trip Report

Melakwa Lake — Sunday, Jun. 9, 2013

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Melakwa Lake June 9, 2013
We arrived at the parking lot about 830AM. 2 other cars. It was nice to head up while it was still cool. No bugs all day! Minimal snow for the first 2.5 miles, up to the flat area above Snowshoe Falls. After the little log bridge, it’s about 50-75% snow until the last 500(?) or so vertical feet, and then solid snow from there on to the lake. Below Hemlock Pass finding the route becomes more challenging and at times a bit steep. We appreciated having poles, sturdy boots, and gaiters.
The crossing below the waterslide.
Keekwulee Falls
About 3 miles in.

Ice Cave?

Hey KnuteB -- thanks for the report. Did you happen to notice if the ice cave had formed along the Denny Creek trail, by the Falls? Thanks!
