Tacoma Nature Center Interpretive Walks — Saturday, Jul. 6, 2013

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Discovery Pond
Great day at the Tacoma Nature Center! This was our first trip. I took my parents, 4-year-old son and 1-year-old son. The 4-year-old LOVED the Discovery Pond area where there were lots of "natural" play structures. A slide made of a hollowed log, treehouse, rock climbing wall, etc. We also walked the nature trails. The "First Bridge Loop Trail" was great even for my stroller. Obviously well-used and kept up. Took the longer trails, "Second Bridge Loop Trail" and "Hillside Loop Trail" with my dad and 4-year-old. Obviously not used quite as often, but still well maintained. We saw squirrels, turtles, ducks and lots of insects. Lots of road noise from nearby Hwy 16 would be my only complaint. The Tacoma Nature Center also has a Visitor Center with nice bathrooms - a plus with small kids.
