North Creek Park Boardwalk — Saturday, Jun. 29, 2013

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Duck family crossing North Creek Trail 6-29-2013.
I began my walk at the north end of the trail at McCollum Park in South Everett. This portion of the North Creek Trail runs 2.5 miles south to 164th Street SE and is a 10-foot wide paved multi-use trail that accommodates walkers, runners, bikes, and strollers, as well as dogs. Some of the other reviews here refer to the next section of the trail that runs from 164th Street SE down to 183rd and runs through a wetland area. That portion of the trail is mainly boardwalk and bikes must be walked through that portion. Portions of the trail are still under development so there are some breaks but it eventually joins the Burke-Gilman and Samamish River Trails at Hwy 522. My walk this day was just on the northern 2.5 mile stretch. It is a very pleasant and well used paved trail that runs behind some apartments/condos and adjacent to the Mill Creek Town Center. Having recently started a walking program I just walked down about half way and then went back. Planning to go back and do the 5-mile round trip this weekend.Parking is abundant at McCollum Park and the trailhead is very easy to locate. I have walked the next section of the trail (the wetland boardwalk) and that is pleasant too. The boardwalk was not under water when I was there in early July. I did see a couple snakes and lots of birds and other walkers. That stretch I believe is about 1.2 miles long.
