This hike doesn't offer much in the way of views until you reach the top of Beckler Peak but once there you won't be disappointed. The views are phenomenal and well worth the hike up!
The 3.7 miles to the top are a steady climb through various forested ecosystems. There isn't much in the way of flowers or water. There are a few small streams at the beginning of the trail but after that it's pretty dry.
As you near the top, you begin to see lots of quartz rock and there are 2 small snow remnants off the left side of the trail. They will likely be gone within the next week.
The views from the top did not disappoint. You had 365 views of all the surrounding peaks. I'm not up on all of their names but Glacier Peak is obvious as well as Mt. Index and Mt Baker in the distance.
It would have been great to spend an hour or more at the top enjoying the views but I only spent about 30 minutes there. The bugs were beginning to be a problem and I didn't want to slather myself with bug spray.
I did the round-trip hike in 2 hours 50 min. but I was hiking solo and tend to hike at a faster pace when alone. I also started early and was on the trail by 8:15 a.m. Besides the spectacular views one of the things that I loved about this hike was the lack of people. It's not well known yet. I passed just 3 people on my way up and encountered 29 people as I headed down. A huge difference from the 100+ people I encountered on my hike out of nearby Lake Serene in early July.
