Trip Report

North Fork 25 Mile Creek, Lone Peak — Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013

Central Cascades
Map of trail area. Upper right corner is turn off from 25 Mile Creek State Park on South Shore Rd. Lone Peak TH is 2nd one marked off of FS 5900.
Directions: From Chelan, take Hwy 97A south 4 miles to South Shore Rd. Continue West on South Shore past the 25-Mile Creek Campground, then turn left on Shady Pass Road [FS 5900]. Continue along this road, until you reach a sign saying to turn left for Lone Peak Trailhead. You will pass two trailheads for the North Fork 25-Mi Creek Trail. The Lone Peak trailhead is about another 5 miles after turning off 5900. Roads are in excellent condition and very well marked. The trail starts in dry brush and descends over the first mile to 25 Mile Creek. Very little shade in the first mile before you enter pine forest, so it was good that it was overcast while we hiked. We did not get all the way to Lone Peak, but saw no hikers during the entire outing. The hillsides opposite are beautiful and the creek delightful. No bugs on this well maintained trail. I would like to go back to make the summit and continue on. Some Thimbleberry near the creek.
Sign indicating left turn off of 5900 to Lone Peak TH.
