Northrup Canyon — Saturday, Sep. 21, 2013

Central Washington > Grand Coulee
lots of neat geology here
After finishing our hike on Steamboat we packed up our tent and drove the few miles north on hwy 155 to turn right at Northrup Canyon. After a few minutes of driving on the road we made it to the trail head. We hiked for about an hour on the gravel road that was the trail through the canyon. It was abundant in both geological natural views. We saw a lot of birds when we passed through a small grove of Aspen. Before turning around we saw a Western Rattlesnake casually cross the road while shaking it's tail. It was an interesting hike and we plan to go all the way next time.
the basalt rock formations are easy to climb, makes one feel like a mountain goat.
