Old Sauk River Trail — Friday, Dec. 27, 2013

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Sauk River, gigicassini
This was a lovely little excursion: no elevation, a few ups and downs, a few remains of early snows and resulting slimy trails, but nothing tricky or difficult. This is a lovely spot! This mossy beds, mossy trees, gigantic trees, and that hollow-ground sound. There is an accessible trail that is really great and I look forward to bring my father along with me in the near future. My biggest complaint: it's a long drive for such a short hike, but the drive was gorgeous with the sun setting behind the snow-covered mountains and the fog settling down in front of them.

We like to go up to Beaver Lake trail afterwards for a second hike and helps make the drive worth it.
