It was the absolute perfect day to do this hike! I arrived at the trailhead at 930 and there were quite a few cars already, however I only saw one person my whole way to the top. And the lake was gorgeous, as always.
A couple of things to note, however:
As previous reports mention, it gets really icy toward the top. I was wearing Yak Trax, had poles, and STILL was sliding around from time to time. People wearing good hiking boots, but nothing else, were seen to be having some issues. And don't even get me started on the people wearing sneakers. DO NOT DO THIS! Not if you plan to do this hike anytime soon.
Also, if you are bringing a dog, PLEASE keep them on leash once the icy portion comes about. It's really hard to keep your footing during this part of the hike and I saw one dog almost run a girl down. Not safe.
Other than that, it was a super lovely hike and very manageable if you are well prepared!
