The 1.45 mile loop trail around Deep Lake at Nolte State Park is a good option for cold, rainy days when you want to get out into the woods without venturing too far from the comforts of town. It’s a quick, flat walk around the lake, and pretty enough to repeat several times for more of a workout. The trail is in excellent condition.
Nolte State Park couldn’t be easier to find. From Enumclaw, follow HY 410 east to Farman Street N at the end of town and turn left. Farman will turn into 284 Avenue SE and then into Veazie-Cumberland Road SE. The park will be on your left about five miles after the turn from HY 410. There are plenty of signs along the way. Park on the right shoulder just past the entrance when the gates are closed in winter.
