Palisades Park — Thursday, Mar. 27, 2014

Eastern Washington > Spokane Area/Coeur d'Alene
The waterfall; B.Goebel

A fantastic, if not a bit forlorn gem right here in Spokane. The park offers many, many trails to wander through vast acreage of forest, fields and basalt cliffs. The beautiful centerpiece is the Indian Canyon itself, a riparian canyon, terminating in a waterfall surrounded by moss covered, basalt cliffs. Unfortunately, as I said, this wonderful park seems a little forlorn, abandoned homeless camps and empty alcohol containers litter the premises. The park also has a forlorn story attached to it as it hosts the last homestead of Spokane Garry, I've attached a pic of the sign that relates his sad story. I feel this park is a good candidate for future eastern washington trail work, and I for one intend to adopt it, picking up trash and improving the existing trails in my spare time. I wholeheartedly invite you to visit, you won't be disappointed.
