Trip Report

Snoquera Falls Loop — Sunday, Apr. 13, 2014

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410
This is one of my favorite spring hikes, perfect for a day when the sun is out but it’s still too early to do much in the mountains. We hiked out-and-back to the falls rather than completing the loop, as the water over the trail at the base of the falls and trip reports on other sites convinced us that the full loop wasn’t a necessarily a safe route for the dog…or anyone holding onto her leash. The trail is moderately steep but it’s in good condition and the switchbacks help. The directions provided in Day Hiking: Snoqualmie Region and copied to this website are not very clear but once you’re at the trailhead the signs are good. To reach the trailhead from HY 410, turn left at the Camp Sheppard sign and then turn immediately right into the parking lot. The signed trailhead is located at the edge of the lot.
