May 10th 2014. The roads are in great shape but there is some selective logging on FS road 2204. The campground is still closed but it is absolutely gorgeous.
I started the trail at Campbell Grove Campground and immediately was faced with crossing the river. There is plenty of water so a quick hike upstream provides a nice new log across the river.
After crossing the river the trail is easy to find but it doesn't appear to get much use. Lots of water, mud, rocks but real easy to find and follow. You have to cross a large creek after about mile but once again a couple of logs about a 100 yards upstream make it easy. Just take your time.
After that it is just you and a beautiful primordial rain forest completely devoid of people of garbage. Lots and lots of elk, deer, and bear sign but I didn't see any actual animals.
If you are searching for solitude and the soothing sounds of a river in a beautiful rain forest do this hike.Weather was good and the forest was beautify.
