We drove the road past the gate to the TH parking area where there were no other vehicles. The road is best driven by a high clearance vehicle. We saw only two other hikers--a man who lived in the area and a man who had hiked from the Yakima Canyon Road. We spent 4 hours enjoying the flowers on the butte. Thyme-leaved buckwheat, linear-leaved daisies, lupine, penstemon, a few hedgehog cactus, a few bitterroot, balsamroot, and Thompson's paint brush were some of the flowers seen. Several horned-larks were seen.
