Dog Mountain — Friday, May. 16, 2014

Southwest Washington > Columbia River Gorge - WA
Almost to the top of Dog Mountain
This was a day hike up to Dog Mountain to see the fields of flowers. We were not disappointed! The Balsamroot flowers are in full bloom. The Lupine are blooming at the lower level of the trail but are just budding in the upper fields. All the flowers are blooming on this trail, its a beautiful hike. The trail is in good condition. Outside of nearly getting blown off the mountain, it was a great day. We found a spot off the top around the east side where we had lunch and not very windy!
Balsamroot flowers everywhere!

Ticks?

Ticks? Don't pet any dogs which may have strolled through the poison oak!

ticks?

I didn't find any ticks, and I did check for them. About the dogs & poison oak, you shouldn't let them rub on you either which is why I wish people would pay attention to the sign at the trailhead and leash their dog. I have had poison oak before and I don't care to repeat that experience!
