Hannegan Pass and Peak, Whatcom Pass & Beaver Pass — Thursday, May. 22, 2014

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Hannegan Pass
Road drivable to within 500m of Hannegan Pass Trailhead. Hannegan Pass snow covered, but no problems. Ice Axe ussful. Cable car river crossing worked fine. Whatcomm pass much more difficult. Stream crossing near top of pass difficult - had to rely on snow bridges. Southeast descent only by downclimbed couloirs around trail. Beaver Pass snow covered, but easy going. Saw no one nor signs of anyone else in the Chilliwack or Little Beaver valleys. Overall a nice hike with 3 overnights.

Additional comments

Don't try without ice axe and snow shoes. Finished up at Ross Lake Dam. Need to be able to navigate without relying on trails due to snow. Be careful descending Whatcomm pass.
