Trip Report

Skyscraper Mountain — Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014

Mount Rainier Area > NE - Sunrise/White River
Mostly sunny and 70+ degrees. The trail is in good shape and there is one small snowfield to cross right before you arrive at the junction where the boot trail up Skyscraper mountain starts. Bugs were mostly manageable except at the summit of Skyscraper Mountain. They were annoying and bug juice seemed to put them at bay . . . For awhile. Overall the hike is easy with the potential for amazing views. PostScript - along the route we were able to make four separate mountain goat sightings; and while just the two of us were lunching on Skyscraper summit a marmot joined us. Really great to watch and observe the critter forage for food. Along with the Buck deer we saw early on in the hike, a good Mt Rainier wild animal spotting day.
