We hiked down the Bagley Lake trail, past the small cataract, over the two small stone bridges and back of the Chain Lake trail on the other side of the lake. Our 4.5 year-old had no trouble traversing the Bagley Lake trail, and need only a little help in a few places on the Chain Lake side. There was a group of young hikers coming back up the Bagley Lake side that made it seem crowded at first, but once they passed, it was pretty mellow. Probably saw about 15 in that group, and maybe 15 more people scattered around in total on both sides. Our kid really loved the little streams crossing the trail, and, of course, snow in August.
