Trip Report

Mount Washington — Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
I started up the trail at 7:45 AM. No other cars in the parking lot. The trail is pretty steep for the first half of the hike. Make sure you pay attention to the small wooden sign at the first fork in the trail. The trail was pretty wet. Crossed a few streams. Sometimes the trail seemed to be a stream itself. Lots of large puddles to cross as well. The trail is covered in loose rock most of the time. Loose, wet rocks. There were a few slips and a few rolled ankles. Nothing too bad but you do have to pay attention to your footing a little bit. Eventually you come across a shallow pond/marshy area. The main trail goes towards the left. I found another over grown trail towards the right. If you cross the small stream that flows out of the pond, you can barely make out a trail. I followed this for a little while, it was visible on my trail map but barely visible throughout the hike. Sometimes I thought I had lost the trail and ended up on a game trail. Rocks set in a line under the over growth would reconfirm that I was still on the trail. Soon, the overgrown trail forks. Follow the left fork up hill. It will wind around and become rockier and steeper. Climb to the top. This will take you to a pretty nice view point where you can get a good look at Mt. Si and I-90. After taking in the view, turn around and look up. You will see the summit with the weather antennae. There is a little bit of a trail the continues upward. Before long, it will link right up to the main trail with just a short walk to the summit and it's amazing views.
