The road to the trail is rather pothole-filled but it's so short it's not really an issue.
I marked "Difficult Stream Crossings" not because of the flow of water but because of the ice on and around the many creek crossings along this trail. There were patches of intermittent ice along the whole trail so tread carefully. Extra equipment, i.e. MICROspikes or crampons, weren't necessary. There were a couple of large trees down across the trail but they were easily hopped over.
The forested trail kept us protected from the intense wind that we were exposed to once we reached the lake. The lake is beginning to freeze over so the edge of it had some crazy ice formations!
This is a busy trail and I lost count of the number of other hikers we saw. There were also loads of unleashed dogs on the trail.
There was a privy at the trailhead but it was out of teepee, so, as always, bring your own!
This is a great trail with a steady incline that proved to be just a little challenging for me, 3.5 months postpartum. Overall though a really fun hike!
