Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise
My friend and I looking at The Tattoosh Range: Photo by my mom
Me, my mom, and some friends went snowshoeing at Mount Rainier on MLK JR. day.We went off trail and went up hill most of the time. This was exhausting for me. There were not any Rock Chucks this time though. :( Me and my mom did this thing where you pick a point, then hike to it, and you take a ''Pit Stop''. This made it easier because I had a plan. We saw a big group of trees and went inside of them, the snow was icy on the branches. There was a rock ahead and we thought it was a good place to have lunch. It was so foggy that you couldn't even see the top of Mt. Rainier. The opposite way, the Tatoosh Range was visible with fog all around them. The snow was deep but with the snowshoes on I only sunk a little bit. When we were done we ran or slid down the hills. We hiked up a tall part of the mountain and 2 of our friends slid down. Farther down, two of my friends and I did summersaults down the mountain in the fluffy snow. I ended up with snow in my pants! It was soooooooo cold it burned! When we got back to the car we took our gear off. Then we drove back home and I had soaked pants. I HAD LOTS OF FUN !!!!!!!!
Climbing up the hill very determined to the "pit stop": Photo by my mom
