Summit Lake — Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015

Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich
Mount Rainier
We hiked this on Saturday. The road to the trail head is rough after you get on to the forest road and had some snow but we managed it in our sedan. The trail itself had quite a bit of snow on it which turned slushy later on in the day. We did encounter a few people on the trail. The lake is completely frozen over and I highly recommend going around the lake and following footprints that go to the right towards the top of a hill. From here there are excellent views of Mount Rainier and the frozen Summit Lake. Overall, this is an amazing trail on a clear day.
