Cow Heaven — Saturday, Mar. 28, 2015

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20
Waterfalls, Waterfalls, Waterfalls. This is a great hike this time of year. The trail is very strenuous but the sights and sounds of the full rushing creek is very inspiring. The first two plus miles of trail is in great shape with only 2 or 3 skinny blowdowns, but the trail becomes a waterway and a slog towards the end. We turned around at 3 to 3.5 miles as we were too pooped (80 plus switchbacks pooped!) to stumble through and around a creek bed any longer. We will try for the viewpoints this summer. There are some tricky creek crossings so be prepared. If you can make through the fords at the base of the four waterfalls all within a 30 foot portion of the trail and within the first ten minutes of the hike you will be able to handle the rest of the creek crossings. Did not see any snow.
