Southwest Washington > Columbia River Gorge - WA
Calypso Orchid

We were 2 weeks or more early for peak bloom on the trail. Balsamroot and desert parsley were just beginning to bloom and we saw only 2 lupine in bloom. Wild cucumber, prairie stars, yellow violets, blue-eyed Mary, glacier lilies, barestem desert parsley, buttercups, calypso orchids, agoseris, grand hound's tongue, Columbia desert parsley, puccoon, and naked broomrape were seen. The dogwood tree along the trail has a few blossoms with many more to come. The elevation gain is gradual and when the flowers are at their peak this will be an even more beautiful springtime flower hike than it was today!

Blue-eyed Mary
Sasquatch as seen as the trail passes through private property!
In 2 weeks or less these hills should be alive with beautiful flowers!
