Boardwalk through the marsh
This is a great boardwalk that takes you right through the middle of wetlands. The boardwalk is set up so that it floats when the water table is high, and sets gently on land when the water is low and super muddy. This is a wonderful place to sit and watch marshland birds, turtles, and other wetland wildlife. You really get a sense of the fragile and beauty of the wonder that looks deceivingly like a field of grass. Our dog was a little leery of the boardwalk, as she's not overly keen on the ground shifting under her feet, but she seemed to enjoy it after we walked in about a mile. There's a peat bog pond that's an offshoot and a lovely place to sit. There's informational plaques with good introductory information about the habitat. Unfortunately, I did find some garbage that other 'hikers' had left. Including a coffee cup, a plastic bottle, a plastic bag, and a luna bar wrapper. If you pack it in, pack it out. I'd hate to see some baby turtles get caught and die in a plastic bottle.
