We took all the kids ages 4 and over and even grandma up the trail to the top of Steamboat Rock. The very eroded portions in the gully weren't easy to scramble for the little ones and grandma kept slipping with her regular running shoes, but eventually everyone made it to the summit plateau. Snacks were devoured on top of the big boulder overlooking the camp and the southern part of Banks lake, then we all headed downhill. For those without good hiking shoes the descent was a bit problematic so I had to take turns helping the kids downhill, then grandma. There was almost no whining during this hike, which was the crowning achievement of the whole camping trip.
