Ira Spring Trail - Mason Lake — Thursday, May. 28, 2015

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Mt. Rainier peeking out, sadly blocked by clouds.
We arrived around 10am and the parking lot was about half full. But we didn't see many people on the way up. Later on there were considerably more people which surprised us for a weekday. The full hike and lunch break took maybe 4 hours. The trail is in excellent condition with some rocks throughout and occasional light mud as you get closer to the lake. There were some flowers blooming along the trail but not too many. Some butterflies too. Tons of granite. And a few nice waterfalls. The views were excellent. Due to the rock fields you'd get a huge panoramic view across I-90 and as you climb you get better and better views of Mt. Rainier. Unfortunately clouds blocked the best views of Rainier for us but it was still impressive. Once you cross over the ridge and head down to the lake you're isolated from the sound of I-90 and it's a great forest experience. The lake itself is pretty but very rocky all around.
