Lake Dorothy - Lake Bear - Lake Deer — Saturday, Jun. 6, 2015

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
Lake Dorothy Panorama
Trail is in prime shape for summer hiking (and swimming)! Our Pediatrician first recommended the Lake Dorothy hike 10 years ago as a great hike for kids. With so many trails to explore in Western Washington and the Cascades a trail has to be pretty special to repeat it. This one is a true "Best of the NW" we venture back every couple years to work up a sweat on the 1,000 vertical climb in 2 miles up to the large alpine lake and take a refreshing swim. Cross the bridge at Camp Robber creek at just over a half mile where water ripples over granite slabs (a scenic rest stop). Climb along through forests across board walks ascending the steepening grade to the mouth of lake Dorothy and a scenic overlook at 2 miles. Follow along the eastern edge of the lake until passable down to campsites and swimming holes. Abundant with great swimming and some prime camp sites. Lake Dorothy is a popular destination for these very reasons. Possible extensions travel up to Bear Lake and Snoqualmie lake with a cross-corridor connection to the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River along the Taylor River. Check out lake Dorothy and you may find adding this to your list of annual hikes as well.
