My daughter and I had seen a trip report describing the flowers at Crystal Lakes, so we figured the ones along the Naches Peak loop must also be nice. What an understatement! As soon as we popped out of the car, the cameras were clickin'! The blooms are busting out from the trailhead, to the tarns, to the top of Naches Peak, around the backside, to the shores of Lake Tipsoo. I've only been on the loop one other time when the blooms of every variety were happening at once because of a late snow melt... that was mid August!! That it's happening right now, in June, is remarkable! What a strange year... Of course, Naches Peak Loop is a gem even when the wildflowers aren't present. The huckleberry bushes and foliage make Fall a pretty time to visit. However, the fragrance of the lupin right now is to die for! And the magenta paintbrush is like a carpet in places. My daughter wanted to lie down, roll around and stay the night. The shores of Lake Tipsoo are blanketed with all the colors of the rainbow. A photographer's dream to catch these colors in the early morning or late evening light. This is a favorite! It won't last long, folks.
