We were looking for wildflowers and this trail delivered so much more. The waterfalls are still viewable albeit dwindling.
You will be driving on the dirt road for 20-30 minutes don't get discouraged just follow the directions in the guide.
Once on the trail you will be blown away by how many blueberry bushes line this trail. The salmon berries are also just about perfectly ripe.
If you take kids younger then 8 plan to go at it slow and take lots of snack breaks. The trail is comparable to Mt Si. The major difference between the popular Mt Si and this trail is the ground is soft dirt and loose rock, nowhere near the solid big stones you have to comfortably stair step up to get to the top. Navigating down is also a time to practice slow and teach crab walks and use hand holds. Definitely a hike for good quality hiking boots, plenty of water and snacks. We spent about 4 hours making the trek round trip with a group of well conditioned hiking kids ages 4-13.
If you have access to a high clearance vehicle we highly recommend using as there is a couple places where the road up has some huge potholes. Bring a towel for the lake at the top!
