Lime Kiln Trail — Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Bricks scattered around the kiln
Lucked out and managed to miss the rain. Parking was easy to find, with about twenty or so cars at the TH by the time we returned around 3pm. The trail is wet and muddy most of the way but otherwise in excellent condition. I recommend wearing waterproof shoes or boots, but you would survive without them. This has a few ups and downs and narrow paths about halfway, although most anyone would enjoy this trail. I would rate easy to moderate. At a modest pace combined with exploring around the kiln, it took us 2.5-3 hours. The kiln and surrounding artifacts are a pretty cool site. Watch out for a hidden saw blade poking out of the ground around ankle high when you first reach the kiln. If you have time make sure to try the Barbeque Bucket in Granite Falls after this hike, or any hike along Mountain Loop Highway. I recommend the ribs! Great food after a great hike. The place is small with limited seating so try and go between lunch and dinner crowds.
