Trip Report

Mount Walker — Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
The gate for the trailhead is closed, but there is room by the gate for half a dozen or more cars, and the walk from there to the trailhead is very short. It was a slightly rainy day, but the trail was easy to navigate with little to no mud. In terms of wildlife there was one doe, and at the top there were several Grey Jays begging for a snack. You can also see the rhododendrons along the trail, some with buds already. The trail itself is a steady incline the majority of the time, but the viewpoint at the top was beautiful, even with the dense fog. Including the walk from the car, it was a total of 4.19 miles, 2,195 ft. It is a dog friendly hike, and no pass is required.
