Hiking with babies and toddlers is great training for mountaineering. With such beautiful weather I had no choice but to take the day off. When you have young kids you have to find opportunities to balance your love of the outdoors with parenting. Opted to take my six month old baby up Rattlesnake Ledge. She is still too small to carry with my Osprey Pack, so decided to use our Baby Bjorn. Thankfully she was happy the entire hike, and we were greeted with beautiful summit views. As usual, the top of the ledge was crowded with people!! Still worth it though for a quick hike.

Our group went up to Pete's View today (for those who don't want to go to the East Peak) and found a lot of old hard, lumpy snow between the upper ledge and the logjam--and a heckuva lot of downed trees across the trail. Most of the downed timber is smaller stuff but still some climb-overs and--after awhile--a PITA. But still, 61F back at the cars after the hike! Photos here:

love the family hiking

I love seeing other families out with their littlest ones, lovely photos. You have a beautiful little girl, I need to convince my other half to take a weekday off here and there for some hiking!

Thanks! It was a great work out. Baby was wiped out and took a two hour nap with me!
