We took the Camp David Jr trail head. The road there kept getting worse and we were starting to wish we had taken our truck instead of our chevy cobalt.
We set off on the trail about 9, my husband, our 2 dogs, and our toddler in a backpack. I was pretty cold when I got out of the car and was itching to start the hike so I could warm up, but with 2 dogs and a toddler there was a lot to be done before we could start off.
The first mile or so was pretty shady. It was pretty tranquil actually. Walking in the forest with the sounds of the waves from the lake nearby.
I think it was about a mile and a half in when I spotted the first poem. North Olympic Library System put a bunch of poems on this trail, they had such poets as Emily Dickinson and Shel Silverstein, I rather enjoyed stopping to read them.
There were 2 creeks we needed to jump over, some rocky sections, and some muddy sections. There was one part that I would truly call steep.
We made it to the end where the trail starts to get gravelly. We stopped there for a snack. On the way back I swear a fly was following us as I kept heard buzzing.
