A friend and I decided to hike the old trail as it it more direct and more of a challenge. when we arrived both parking lots were full with cars parked on both sides of the road extending a quarter mile in each direction. we began our hike at noon with only a few logs on the trail and minor snow. We reached the peak around 2pm breaking through the cloud cover just before. It appeared that the majority of the parking situation down below had reached the top already. it was busy but a neat sort of sub-culture was atop mailbox. we reached the car at 3:20, but I always run down the mountain. fun hike, beautiful weather!
