Trip Report

Mount Rose — Tuesday, Apr. 19, 2016

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
NEar where we turned around.
We read the prior trip report and headed up Mt Rose at 7:30 AM. The trail was its usual steep monster, but clear and in great shape all the way past Horse Camp and up the next steep section (clockwise) until the flatter upper area at about 3600 feet. The track was mainly easy to find in the snow with the help of pink tape in the trees. When we hit about 4000 feet the boot track was going over a large downed tree and the melt out had exposed plenty of places to step through. Since there was just 2 of us we decided to turn back and settle for just over 3100 feet of elevation and just shy of 7 miles and live to hike another day. Hopefully, the melt out will bare the actual trail soon.
Trillium.
At Horse Camp with the Doggess Athena.
